2302 Rundell

I posted about this gorgeous mid century modern Zilker home a few years ago and mistakenly attributed it to A. D. Stenger. I was delighted to receive a phone call from the original owner and architect’s daughter setting the record straight. According to her, her father Kenneth Nuhn was the designer and builder. Mr Nuhn was an accomplished architect in his own right who spent much of his career working for the State Health Department. The house has seen a major addition remodel since but still keeps many of the defining architectural features.

While you man need a tad bit of imagination or some squinting this house has some fantastic architectural features. I love the quirky arch motif and all that limestone and saltillo are lovely. It’s also located in Round Rock which rarely has MCM homes of this quality, a bonus for someone who wants / needs to be north of Austin.

I just love the curb appeal of this house, the steep lot with the garage under the house makes for some nice proportions. Inside you’ll find a nice mix of old and new. The patina on those Saltillo tiles is priceless and the location couldn’t be better.
