While the one picture doesn't reveal a lot on this A. D. Stenger home, I can assure you it's a gem. I had a chance to walk through it a few weeks ago as the current owners of 30 years were moving out, and it has a lot to love about it. The real star of the show is an amazing metal fireplace in the living room that is mounted on a stone wall that divides the living room from the kitchen. Ohh, that and the flawless terrazzo. Don't get me wrong, this one will need a full rehab, but it will be worth it.

We started the week big, we might as well end the week big. This little number got a down to the studs remodel in 2011. The exterior was simplified visually by my favorite trick, white paint. Inside got a thorough makeover as well, including a kitchen that's got me swooning.

They are calling this new build "Modern Usonian" clearly inspired by the Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian houses. I would have to say the name is spot on, as is the architecture. From the curb it looks like an very well executed project. I wish that the same level of quality was more apparent with the interior finishes though. That being said, this still seems like a steal for $625k.

While much of the East Austin "modern" infill isn't the most impressive, this particular project from Verde looks to be pretty darn good. There are some nice touches like the pocketing sliding glass door, open metal stairs, wood accents on the siding and the addition of a gas outdoor fireplace are all above and beyond that spec standard. Hopefully others will follow their lead.
