If you know me, you know my favorite color is white. So this 2013 spec home gets accolades from me. The juxtaposition of warm wood exteriors and white stucco will always be one of my favorite looks. They even did a good job bringing that color pallet inside in areas, and sticking to a limited material pallet inside to complement the space.

1908 E 8th

Long time readers may remember this house from a bit over a year ago when I last featured it. It looks like the current owners have done a great job furnishing the space, and adding the privacy deck in the front yard. Also, please note the $100,000 price increase in just one year! The lesson here is if you have been thinking about buying, don't wait any longer. Your dream house is not getting any cheaper.

We've seen some good modern homes this week, and some great mid century modern, so it only seems fitting to wrap it up with a modern at heart. I was thinking this morning about what I would do if I was on a tight (read under $250k) budget in Austin and buying a home. I think I would pretty much buy the cheapest thing I could on the East side, and remodel it like this.

404 Brady : A. D. Stenger

I'm excited to go check this one out. It's been on my list of A. D. Stenger homes but the current owner has done a lot of updating since it was last on the market. I'm happy to say too that it looks like they have done a pretty tasteful job. Click on the "more info" and check out the bold floral wallpaper in the bathrooms. Not my thing, but totally amazing.
