11800 Arabian

I've got to admit, a good deal of the allure of this house is the unknown. 1,800+ sq/ft on over .7 acres and all we get is a few shots of the living room? If the all those stone walls and clerestory windows in the living room are any indication of what the rest of the house looks like, this one could be a gem. Who wants to go see it with me?

If you read my newsletter this house probably looks familiar. Designed by Ezra Wheeler this modern home manages to be both minimal and eclectic in it's design. It's the little bits like the textured white door, the wood ceiling etc that help keep the space from feeling too cold. There are some better pictures here where it's furnished.

I'm just going to continue on this theme of farmhouse modern. This Zilker beauty comes to us thanks to the folks at Moore-Tate. I'm really enjoying the stark black white contrast in the design. It makes the elements like the fireplace, doors etc really pop. Plus, how fun would it be to fill the space with some colorful pieces of furniture.

I'm seeing a new trend in the spec housing market, and I like it. Slowly the helter skelter "modern" roof lines and mismatched bright siding colors are being replaced by houses with simple white volumes and minimal but organic inspired interiors. Hopefully we can see more of this distill down into the lower dollar infill in East Austin as well.

I'm always drawn to lots that have interesting topography. When approached right, it can really elevate the quality of the architecture and make for a much more interesting end product, especially when you are talking modern or mid century modern. That is one of the reasons Texas hill county makes such a great base for mid century modern. This 1963 house is a great example. I'm headed to check it out in a bit, check my Instagram for highlights.
