Well, my site visit to yesterdays MCM turned out to be a bit of a dud (minus the views), but I've got high hopes for this beauty .I love the textures in this house, the carved wood doorway, the stonework, the wood. So good.

I'm always drawn to lots that have interesting topography. When approached right, it can really elevate the quality of the architecture and make for a much more interesting end product, especially when you are talking modern or mid century modern. That is one of the reasons Texas hill county makes such a great base for mid century modern. This 1963 house is a great example. I'm headed to check it out in a bit, check my Instagram for highlights.

The list would be long if I named everything I loved about this house, but what if I were to choose just one thing it? Hands down it would be the smooth exterior stucco and how it seamlessly wraps into the house to create the fireplace surround (see below). Well played.

This house highlights some of the things I love about University Hills. For starters the ranch architecture lends itself well to the whole modern / mid century modern look. The price is reasonably affordable (even better if you can find one pre-update). Lastly, this house has almost 1/2 an acre and backs to a stream bed. Amazing.

Looking to put a little distance between you and the city? This falls into the category of not too close, but close enough. On top of that this house has enough Saltillo tile, stacked limestone and vaulted ceilings to make any MCM fan a bit weak in the knees.
