5403 Kings Hwy

Quirky, cute and super affordable. Those are just a few reasons I'm crushing on this South Austin mid mod. Honestly it sort of blows my mind that for around $1,700 a month you could buy a house that looks this good. Compared to rent here in Austin, that's a bargain. Kudos to the current owners for doing a solid job remodeling and furnishing this little guy.

Everyone loves East Austin because of the great restaurants and bars. In the past, these were all centered around the E 6th corridor, but more recently we are seeing a big push east, especially along Cesar Chavez. With that houses farther east like this become a prime location. Within the next year this house will have a brewery blocks away, and several brand new restaurants, and bars. Right now, there is Friends and Neighbors (fave) and Juiceland. Tides are shifting people. Go east.

1117 Stobaugh : Metrohouse

It's not very often that you see palm springs modern well executed in new construction, but this house built by the new defunct Metrohouse totally nails it. I love the separate guest suite complete with kitchen and bathroom. Oh, and the pool looks lovely too. Swim party anyone?

While Metrohouse may no longer be around as a builder, their architect Guido Porto is still practicing, check out his website here.

1005 E 45th

I've had my eye on this modern at heart home since it hit the market, but with today's price drop its just too good not to share. Since when did Hyde Park start looking affordable compared to East Austin? Plus this house has it all, good bones and a minimal backdrop to add your furniture into (take note, the current owner is doing it right). The icing on the cake is the bright airy studio in the backyard.
