While this house is not exactly my style, it gets two thumbs up for creativity. The front fence and gate give the house great curb appeal and the same unique approaches follow through to the house. They've opened up the interior spaces and left some exposed wood. To balance things out they've gone super modern on the kitchen and other surfaces. Nice push and pull.

I fully admit that it's the mid century architecture that draws me in on this one. While the remodel may not be quite the style I would have chosen, I am happy that it looks to be high quality, not just a Home Depot flip job. Oh, and that location? Yeah, I could live with that.

While this house is a bit of a sleeper from the outside, I just had to share it because I think the interior spaces are full of potential. There are lot's of great architectural features, tall ceilings, sunken rooms and oodles of windows. The indoor outdoor connections, and the pool are all well done as well. Now it just needs a bit of interior decorating.

I'm telling you guys, there are just too many good homes coming on the market to keep up. This is one I tagged 11 days ago, but I'm only getting around to sharing it now. I'm actually a bit surprised it hasn't sold yet. Luckily the luxury properties aren't moving as quick as the rest of them. This beauty was built in 2005 by Beck-Reit and Sons and it looks like it's held up well. I'm alway a sucker for butterfly roofs and great indoor outdoor spaces.

Remember that A. D. Stenger house I mentioned in my newsletter last week?

UPDATE: I just received some more information on this property, and it turns out it is not a Stenger house, but was designed by local Architect Kenneth Nuhn who passed away last year. Mr Nuhn was an accomplished architect in his own right who spent much of his career working for the State Health Department.

It's got a lot going for it, the Barton Hills location is ideal, and while the interior needs some love the bones are good. I actually prefer a house in this condition, you don't pay a premium for someone else's remodel, and you get to make it exactly how you want it.

1908 Airole : A.D. Stenger

We're back! The good news is I've got a doozy for you, the bad news is this beauty came and went in 3 quick days and is now under contract. Built by A.D. Stenger in 1950, one of the things that I like most about this house is just how original it looks inside. Sure it's probably seen a few updates over the years, but the important stuff hasn't been messed with. That combined with the HUGE lot, the location and that price, it's no wonder this one didn't last long.
