6107 Mountainclimb

I call a lot of 60's ramblers "mid century modern" but this looks like it is the real deal. Just like today the difference between the real deal and imitation is often the involvement of an architect. In this particular case it was apparently Kuehne, Kuehne and Milburn. I love all the original drawings that they still have of the house, though the lack of interior photos tells me it may need a little work. My favorite part? The note that says "Price as per this sketch $21,300". Sigh, I can't even get my landscaping done for that now...

4504 Crestway : Roland Roessner

And the hits just keep coming. This amazing one owner mid century modern home designed by Roland Roessner was built in 1965. The inside looks like a time capsule, with loads of beautiful specialized touches from interesting interior screens and custom shelving to an amazing retro kitchen. This is the sort of house that is so well done I can't tell if some of the details are old or new. Timelessness is the best compliment a modern home can get.

This 2009 Tim Cuppett designed house almost had me fooled into thinking it was a mid century remodel. While the interior is a bit traditional for my taste, you have to admit it's full of some beautiful spaces. The location is great too.

2603 La Ronde : Herbert Crume

Herbert Crume was a mid century architect that worked for Fehr and Granger for some time. Before that however he was in Chicago, and if I'm not mistaken I can see an aweful lot of Mies van der Rohe in this home he designed for his family. I walked through this home a few years ago during a homes tour, and I can attest that it is every bit as good as it looks.

This 1953 house has seen an extensive remodel, so much so you have to squint a bit to see any of the 50's left in it. Open your eyes wide though and you'll see lot of great new stuff. Being a cabinetry snob, any time I see grain matched cabinetry I know that they probably went the extra mile on the other details as well.
