Caswell #411

Caswell lofts are on my short list of "Lofts I would live in" and for good reason. This particular unit has the bonus of only one shared wall and no above or below you, which is a pretty big deal for a condo. Plus those double height ceilings and loft which are so sweet.

If you like a little masculinity with your modern design, this is the house for you. If it's a bit too cold and hard looking, don't worry, I sure a little little interior decorating will take care of that.

Caswell Lofts #215

The list of condos that I love in Austin is pretty short, but Caswell Lofts are definitely on them. This particular unit happens to be one of the better styled ones I think I've ever seen. If you our furniture isn't quite as stylish, no worries I'm happy to help you pick out some new pieces. Also, can we talk about how great that swing arm lamp is over the table?

The pictures on this home don't do it justice, so let me paint you a picture of what we've got here. The following is based on connecting a few dots I found while digging into the history of this house. This is a one owner home, designed by architect William O'Connell in 1955 for himself and his large family. From the street it's modest and unassuming but the house looks out over it's nearly .4 acres on the edge of Shoal Creek. The bones are there people, now it just needs a passionate buyer committed to bringing it back to it's former glory.

2484 Shoal Crest Ave

This is a great example of how to update a classic bungalow, and add some extra space. I call it "modern at heart" but really what I mean is a well designed space. The classic 1930's bungalow has been left intact on the outside, and the inside has gotten a facelift. The mid century modern butterfly roofed studio in the back provides a nice contrast without looking out of place. Well played Shoal Crest. Well played.

833 E 38th : A.D. Stenger?

OK, let's just get this out there. This home is being billed as a "rumored A.D. Stenger", so it may not really be designed by him. In 1964 he was building homes in Rollingwood, so this would be an outlier. Never the less, I can say this, this home is pretty amazing. I've always been a fan of homes with an atrium in the middle, and this just reinforces that love.
