The Pedernales #78

Owning a house isn't always easy, racking leaves, doing maintenance work etc. It's days like when I think I could be perfectly happy in a condo. I've always liked The Pedernales for their affordability, simplicity and good location.

2913 Castro

Castro street has managed to stay a sleepy east Austin street without a lot of infill until now. I'm sure the writing is on the wall, but for now at least this is one more original bungalow that managed to avoid getting razed.

Price: $399,000

1710 Hillcrest

Here's a great little deep east Austin flip, emphasis on little. The good news is that the kitchens and bathrooms have been updated, and even though the house is small, there is plenty of space to add on in the future. Pretty hard to find a house this good at this price anywhere else central.

1602 Haskell #B

If you can get passed the fact that this is tucked behind a bright green house, it's actually pretty rad. Great location in the heart of Holly, nice secluded back yard with a rare east Austin pool, and a simple, bright modern interior.

1203 Holly

Twenty years ago this house sold for $59k. Ten years ago? $288k. Now it's listed at $750k. To be fair a LOT has changed in the last twenty years both to the house and the neighborhood. In fact the Holly neighborhood is probably my number one favorite neighborhood in Austin. This house is pretty great too. I love the updates without losing the original character of the bungalow.
