Remember what I was just saying yesterday about heading deeper east? Here is another great example of pushing the boundaries. This Austin Energy 5 star rated home was designed by Camille Jobe AIA and looks like some very well detailed work. I really like the use of plywood on the walls, inside. The detail is a nice complement to the hardy panel exterior and makes for a cohesive look throughout.

The days of affordable housing in East Austin have come and gone. These days price per square foot in the 02 is about on par with it's older brother 78704. If you are willing to push a bit farther than the buzz however, things get a bit better. This new construction would easily be $100k more expensive if it was a bit closer to I35. Lower prices don't mean lower quality however. In fact the details on this one are quite good.

Price: $425,000

1915 E 10th

This one has eclectic East Austin charm written all over it. The 600 sq/ft front house was built in 1900 and the modern house connected behind it adds another 1,400. It's always nice to see someone persevere the original structure and add to it. It looks like a lot of attention was paid to the outdoor spaces as well.

2013 E 10th

This 2012 east side modern home may be showing it's age a tiny bit, but here's why I like it. First off, it's in a great location. Second, let's be honest. It's only a exterior paint job away from having some great curb appeal. You know me, I hate color. I vote all white, or all black. Lastly, these days I consider anything east side under $300 a sq/ft to be a deal. This one clocks in at $281 sq/ft. Bargain anyone?

It seems like it's been a while since I gave any love to East Austin, so today I present to you this remodeled bungalow. While they score point for doing something a bit out of the ordinary, I feel like I may need to doc a point for having so many different kind of woods in there. A white kitchen and some quartz would have been my go to. Still, that space has some great character!

4813 Red Bluff

While the "cool" part of East Austin continues to push east, it's interesting to see new area's come into their prime. One that was a total no brainer that is finally getting some love is a little stretch of road along the Colorado River. Red Bluff Road is walking distance from Jacoby's and Sawyer and Co. and it has amazing views. Does that justifiy the $800k+ price tag on this house? Only time will tell.
