There were a handful of good homes that came on the market over the weekend, which made todays favorite a bit hard to choose. In the end though, I'm a sucker for a good east Austin location, and some great staging. That price doesn't hurt either.

While this is a crazy price, it seems the market is supporting it, which bodes well for my new build next summer. Second, while the house isn't particularly interesting or compelling from the outside, I like that they took some chances on the inside. Definitely a love it or hate it interior.

For example they take advantage of all those wonderful windows, but maintain privacy by putting roller blinds one pane below the top. That way you can close them, have privacy, but still let light in, and see out. Brilliant!

Read MoreLast week before it hit the market, I had the chance to walk through this house designed and built by Austin based Minguell-McQuary. I was pleasantly impressed. It's so rare to see a house on the east side that is this well detailed architecturally. It's the little things, baseboard details, metalwork etc that really make this place. Here's to hoping that good design really can command that kind of price. Fingers crossed.
