While it may even be a stretch to call this a modern at heart home, it is a well designed little home with loads of character from the quirky (and amazing) mission tile floor, to the wall mounted faucets and loads of built in's. Couple all that with a location in one of Austin's quickest up and coming neighborhoods, and you've got a winner.

This Cherrywood charmer happens to be ideally located just a few blocks from some of my favorite Cherrywood haunts. I took a look at it over the weekend and was really impressed with it. Unfortunately the location coupled with the fantastic remodel means that by the time you read this, it will probably already be under contract.

1714 E 40th : 50's architect designed MCM

I've got two AD Stenger homes to share this week, but not unit I mention this one that a client of mine had under contract briefly last week. If you got my newsletter last Friday, you all ready know all about this house. It's a total sleeper from the street (which is how it evaded my radar for so long) but a gem inside. It is a one owner home designed in 1950 by a local architect for his family. While it has gone through a few additions (at the hand of the same architect) over the years, the inside is surprisingly original. It will need the typical kitchen and bathroom updates, but at this price, and this location, you really can't beat it.

Two things here. First, I call any home that isn't architecturally speaking "modern" but has a well designed space inside "modern at heart", and I LOVE them. Total sleepers from the street, but amazing inside. Number two, I am really loving the Cherrywood Neighborhood lately. Sleepy neighborhoods, with great houses, close to downtownMueller, and East Austin, and with a better price point than any of those neighborhoods.

You had me at Eames Lounge Chair. Seriously though I'd say 90% of the time when you see an Eames Lounge chair, it means that the rest of the design in the house is going to be good. This little Cherrywood charmer is a total sleeper from the street. It's a great example of my Modern at Heart tag. Doesn't look different from the street, but inside has been streamlined and cleaned up nicely.
