This Rollingwood mid century modern home has oodles of potential, it just needs a little help. Shutters have got to go, and that exterior entryway needs an over haul as well. Unfortunately the kitchen looks like it has been redone recently, and not in a flattering way.

435 Brady : A.D. Stenger

Yesterday was a gorgeous house that was "rumored" to be a Stenger home. The consensus of the A.D. Stenger Facebook group is that it's probably not. Today is almost the opposite. This home has A.D. Stenger listed as the builder, and while it doesn't look like a Stenger based on location and year, it is much more likely to be. Unfortunately it looks like it has seen a remodel or two, and if it is a Stenger, it doesn't retain any of the classic MCM touches.

2505 Stratford : Dick Clark

Dick Clark is perhaps one of the most well known and respected modern architects currently practicing in Austin currently, so it goes without saying that a 5,000 + square foot Dick Clark designed home doesn't come cheap. So dust off your checkbooks and get ready to write a big check for this gorgeous (and expensive) Rollingwood home.

504 Spiller : Grotto Dome House - John Watson

This is a truly unique home with an interesting history. Designed by architect John Watson in 1978, it is one of Austin's best examples of organic architecture. Watson studied under Frank Lloyd Wright in Taliesin in the 50's and worked on the Usonian houses, the Guggenheim Museum and the Marin County Civic Center.

John describes the Grotto Dome house like this. "The Grotto Dome on Spiller Lane in Austin was designed to complement and reflect a thousand-year-old rock formation in its glass facade. A recirculating waterfall cascades into a pool below the entrance deck creating an intimate exterior space equal to the interior of the structure itself. A 50 ft arched visor of unite cantilevers over the glass wall and protects the sitting area from sun and rain." via

It's true, when you see a 4 million dollar home you have pretty high expectations. I would love to see more of this home to see if it meets mine, but just for the shot above this is one worth sharing. That stacked limestone with huge windows and that amazing MCM wood stove absolutely kill me. What's your favorite part?
